We tend to think of a legacy as something we leave behind from acts or actions or change we made that next generations and those around us will be impacted by. If our legacy was large enough, we could affect others around our city or town, our county, our state, even around the world. But what about a spiritual legacy? Is there such a thing? And if there is, what is it and how to leave one for others? Can we leave a spiritual legacy? Are we that powerful that we can do so? Find out in my upcoming next book, 'What Is Your Spiritual Legacy?' It is a monograph which is a writing on a single topic. It will be available as an e-book and a printed pocket book. What's a pocket book? It's a small book that can fit in a pocket or purse. Want to learn more and to order a copy? You can go here to visit my author website. Daily life. We sleep, eat, learn, work, enjoy recreational time, visit with others, and are involved in our community. We care for the youngest amongst us and for the eldest amongst us. We give back. We push forward. We forge on with our quest to spiritually evolve. But there is one thing most of us put at the bottom of our list. And for some of us it somehow does not even make it on the list. Self- Care. Self-care is not just important. It is vital. We need to balance sleep and rest, even to just zone out, chill, do some relaxin'. We need to chillax. But if we were being honest we do not give ourselves permission for this self-care. The care that we insist others take we do not allow for ourselves. We make excuses for overdoing it. We just want "it" done, we tidy up so we do not have to look at "it". Because "it" will bother us knowing "it" is there while we are sitting down, knowing if we get up "just one more time" and put that "one thing" away -that "it" that feels as though is staring at us- we will be able to relax better otherwise it will drive us nuts looking at "it". Excuses. We all have them. "Just sit down, I'll take care of that. Oh, here, let me help you. Well, I am walking by it I might as well... (pick it up and put it away, toss it into the washing machine/garbage) because he/she/they must have missed seeing it lying there so I will do it. I cannot stand the mess. I do this "for me". It is an "It Is Better To Give Than To Receive" We have all heard this saying since we were young children. We even have repeated it over the years or decades ourselves. We believe it, wholly. So we give. And then we give some more. It is a selfless act. It is considered an honorable act. We must be givers and therefore to accept is looked down upon. Or is it? You and I were taught how to give. But, were you taught how to (comfortably) receive? In order for others to give..... you must be willing to receive. So not only learn how to give to yourself but learn to allow others to give to you. Accept it graciously and with thanks. You not only deserve it but...more importantly, you need it. This is an important lesson and step we all need to learn and take in order to care for ourselves as well as we care for others. But what to do about those who take and take and take? We must also learn to not allow this to happen. This is an important lesson of Self-Care as well. And one we absolutely need to enact in order to be wholistic (holistic). Not putting a stop to this keeps an imbalance within and without ourselves and them. Saying no to others who exercise entitlement too strongly, who take more than their share, who are too lazy and rely upon others to do it for them are not givers and boundary lines need to be firmly established. Practice saying "No". You will be doing it not only for yourself, but for them as well. Allowing them to keep taking keeps an imbalance not only within yourself but in them as well. So you see setting boundaries and saying no is giving the other person a great gift! - You cannot go about seeking peace, balancing your chakras, evolve, and be happy and healthy on all levels if this part of you is constantly pouring out to others without filling yourself back up again. It cannot happen if you do not allow others to fill you back up through giving to you. And when you are given to and have allowed yourself to receive, it is not necessary to give back each time. Think of it this way: you give a birthday or house-warming gift to someone. They send you a thank you card then you send them a card back thanking them for thanking you. See? You just over-gave instead of allowing yourself to receive. Another one: You are given a gift for your birthday or someone bought your lunch. "Oh you shouldn't have" is your response. Then you feel obligated to give back or give that person money, or to leave the tip.
Just accept their graciousness with a heartfelt "thank you" and be grateful in your heart. You deserved that person's kindness and generosity. Just accept it and enjoy it. If you do not allow them this, you risk making them feel awkward. Allow them the freedom to give by you receiving! And that, my friend,... ...is the greatest gift you can give one another.
As to what do Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces have in common...
...it's that they are each considered a water sign. Fire signs are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius, respectively. Air signs are Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. And finally earth signs are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. These elements speak to the mental and emotional aspects of the signs personalities. And if counting the signs I just mentioned... ...you would see there are twelve signs in the Zodiac. They each have traits unique to them and they go in order as the wheel shows above beginning with Aries and working itself counter-clockwise until reaching Pisces. This wheel is the astrology wheel and it is divided into twelve "houses" where each sign "resides". Astrology is intricately mathematical and anyone who tries to say is pseudo-science obviously knows nothing about astrology. They may know there are sun signs and maybe even which one they were born under but other from that they have no knowledge about this star gazing system and all it entails. Now, there are some who insist... ...that someone who is born near or within the date or dates a sign changes from one to another on the calendar is "on the cusp" and therefore has the traits of both signs -with one leading more dominantly- yet most traditionalists of "old school" believe otherwise. So why is this? As I mentioned above astrology is intricately mathematical and it certainly is. When creating someone's astrological chart, an astrologer needs the place of birth which is the city/town and state or region and country but he or she also needs the exact time of birth. These numbers are matched to where each planet was in the sky at that very minute, and corresponding to the actual degree it was in the "houses" of the astrology wheel I mentioned above. Some planets are fast moving and others are slower, or very slow, some taking many years. The energetic pull and push of these planets in accordance with the Zodiac sign is "cemented" if you will, to who and what you are and can become. The key word here is "can". We all have free will. But back to the matter of being on the cusp or not. Since a Zodiac sign is adhered to a specific time-frame on the calendar, yet time alters a bit and in accordance to our calendars created by those in our more ancient past, these dates of Zodiac determination do change from year to year or a few years. There is a gathering of a few days each month at the beginning and end of an almost thirty-day cycle where a Zodiac sign's beginning and ending range will or will not land and this depends on what year it was and referencing this date to what is called an Ephemeris (more about that right after this) determines what actual sign you were born under. You see, it's like this... ...since we are energy beings, we "capture" those traits of particular signs and their energetic tendencies. It's imprinted upon and within our very being. Now add to this that one minute in a particular day a sign is in Aries then the very next moment it switches to Taurus. Those energies of the first sign no longer apply. It's similar to that with call waiting on your phone. You are either on one call or the other. The two other people are connected to you but they are not connected to one another. One click and you are speaking to the other person. One flash of a moment in time and the energies are locked into another sign. So where does the cusp actually come into play? It's in those few days where a Zodiac sign can be in one sign or another. Remember that intricate word I keep using? When someone is born "on the cusp" they are born on one of those days where the date changes in any given year. So the astrologer looks at your year of birth in the Ephemeris book to see where the change occurred during that year. The Ephemeris book lists each and every day and hour and minute of many years. It shows what sign was active on which dates and other pertinent information as well. My belief on how I was told by an astrologer back in the 1970-s is with this practice and belief. The "cusp" refers to these days, not to the person.
What do planets have to do with your astrology sign?
Well, each sign is ruled by a planet and each planet will be in one of the houses in your astrology wheel of your chart. Add to that the degrees of signs that are in your chart and the planets as well and in each house they are in play significant roles to your essence, your being, your purpose, personality, outlook, appearance, and much, much, more. It's shows the total you or what you were born with and what you are capable of. Whether you use these gifts is up to you. Free will.
You've seen it, you've heard about it, you've read it.
If you are a particular Zodiac sign you get along best with a few particular signs but not others. It's true, to a point. When you take into consideration that you have your Zodiac or Sun sign, there's also your ascendant sign, your moon sign and all the rest of it that makes up your chart. What sign is your Venus in and what does that even mean? And which house is it in? Which houses are each planet and Zodiac sign in? What degrees are each sign and planet in? What is "squared" and "opposing"? And how do these come into play to learn how you get along with others? Again, it's intricate. If you are interested in learning if you are truly compatible with another person, then having a "compatibility chart" done would be the route to take. Astrologers are grossly underrated. Good ones are worth their fee all day long. Getting along with one another can be tricky at times. Learning some basics about Zodiac signs aka Sun signs or Astrology signs helps a lot. It can help children to be more tolerant and understanding of one another, offering compassion and a helping hand instead of a bullying moment. My Fun Signs astrological activity book for children can help them to learn these differences and have fun while doing it with coloring pages, dot-to-dot, crossword puzzles, and more. I am having it redesigned later this year but you can still order the current version while supplies last at a bargain price. Just send me an email to see if there are copies left. [email protected] Want to learn more about astrology basics? Below is my 15-minute lunchbreak Meeting IKE Series Blog Talk show. It's aired twice a week -on Tuesdays and Thursdays- and alternating weeks on Wednesday evening I air a live 30-minute show with a special guest. I cover all topics of holistic health, the metaphysical realm, and spirituality. But how to get children started? With babies, toddlers, and even young children, playing meditation music and hertz tones set to gentle music during rest and naptime as well as at bedtime and while they are sleeping is a fantastic way to get them used to being able to tap into those relaxing altered states of being and on a meditation schedule. I've taught young children as young as five years old how to do my effective relaxation techniques and walked them through my guided meditations. They ask wonderful and insightful questions and have a natural curiosity about meditation. They really do take to it quite easily. I've watched while hyper wiggle-worms become still and afterwards looks and speaks in a dreamy manner while telling me just how good they feel. My seven-year-old granddaughter loves to have me walk her through a meditation whenever she comes to visit. Teens also benefit greatly from meditation and have a hunger to learn how to tap into that inner intuitive part of themselves where they can become calm, relaxed, and re-centered. It helps them to relax before a test so they can easily recall test answers or having to remember what they need to say when they present to the rest of the class or even on a job interview. Even pets will feel the energy difference while you meditate and the calm it brings you. I teach online classes for children and teens on Outschool and am in the process of uploading my classes on Udemy for teens and adults. While I hold my guided meditation classes my cat insists on being on my lap or right next to me. And finally there are the adults. From the hard-worker who puts in a lot or hours or is in a stressful job or career to the caretaker of an older parent but still has kids at home and from a dementia-affected adult to the stressed out parent. Even for the ill who is going through treatments, meditation is one of the best gifts you can give to yourself. Music is shown to reconnect dementia-affected adults, so next time you visit play some for them and see the difference for yourself. And when there's chaos building up and swirling around in your home, put on some meditation music with hertz tones in the background. If you'd like to know more about hertz tones you can read my article here. Directly below is my March 6, 2021 Blog Talk Radio show on meditation and how to do it. The second one is my March 11, 2021 show on Hertz, meditation, and more. Before we jump into what metaphysics is, let's first begin with what physics is. Simply put physics is the physical realm world. It's the hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and physical sensation on our skin and in our bodies that we and all living beings use every day. Metaphysics is that which is beyond physics-beyond those physical abilities that I mentioned above. The word comes from the Greek (ta) meta (ta) physika, literally, the (works) after the physical (works). Metaphysics is the exploration and philosophy of the existence that lays beyond the physical world. It is the realm of the energy of life which connects us all. It's in that vision you had, the smell of roses or of smoke after someone you know passed away. It's the touch on your shoulder by another even though someone isn't really there. It is the energy world from which we began. Where the "real" us exists. A psychic energetically tunes into, connects to, the energy field of the person (the subject or situation) and hears, sees, smells, tastes, and can feel the physical sensations of the subject. Now, intuition is something different. This is a knowing of information of the subject, or a situation. The information is revealed. It's like when you just know the phone is about to ring and you know who's calling before looking at the phone. It's like that. It's a knowing. Can a psychic be intuitive or can an intuitive be psychic? Can you? Absolutely. And quite often information is received both ways. Want to learn more? Yes, I know what some of you might be thinking....but it's loaded with sugar!
And you'd be right. But hear me out... If you and your family uses jam (personally, I love it) you may be buying brands made with high fructose corn syrup and some type of starch as a thickener added. And that's not a good thing. And, yes, jam needs pectin so I'm not referring to that ingredient. But high fructose corn syrup is unhealthy and starch in our foods is unnecessary and is also unhealthy for us yet is everywhere these days. Beverages, yogurt, cream cheese, ice cream, and in many other food items. Some of the names used are guar gum, xanthan gum, or other gums, modified food starch, and there are other names they go by too. Have you ever taken a look at a commercial brand of say, lemonade? There's corn starch in some of them. Why? It gives more "body" to the feel of it in your mouth. They think we want it. They think we'll buy more of it because of it. It's unnecessary. I resent that they add it. Just give me fresh squeezed lemonade any day of the week, especially on a hot day! But back to jam. There's a farm not too far from me that sells truckloads of fresh strawberries each week and people seemingly come by the hundreds to buy their fresh strawberries and indulge in their strawberry shortcakes made with moist cake, a large ladle of strawberry/sugar yumminess and then topped with a mountain of ice cream or whipped cream. It was my dinner the other day. I kid you not. I had mine with whipped cream, in case you wondered. But back to jam. Oh! I just heard a couple "pop!" sounds as I typed this. We home canners know that's our reward for our hot and sweaty work making this gift from the gods. We smile and sigh each time one of our jars makes that sound. I bought a full flat of big, juicy, ripe, and sweet strawberries. My jam is made from fresh strawberries, pectin, and sugar. Period. That's all, nothing else. For those who must watch their sugar intake, there are recipes without sugar! Sing it out loud..."Halleluiah!" So for "those times" you want that gooey, sweet and fresh strawberry yumminess, this is the go-to way. On bread, toast, crackers, scones, with butter, peanut butter or cream cheese, on ice cream, even plain on a spoon...whatever your method of indulging in it, is the way to go. Canning isn't as difficult as one might think it is. The recipe I use it the one that comes with the box of pectin. Canning jars, a good size pot, a tall pot, lifters to put the jars in and out of the pot, cooking spoon, measuring cups, sugar, strawberries, pectin, a couple of hand towels, paper towels, and that's almost all it takes. And now, I have plenty of strawberry jam for my family that I can feel good about. No preservatives, no added colorings, nothing but what I want in there. And making your own saves you money, too because those little jars are expensive! Ahhh.....there goes another "pop!". I think next up is a batch of homemade orange marmalade. Then tomatoes.
Not sure if that's a good thing or not. It's not that what I'll blog about won't be helpful or that I'd be bad at it. Because it will be helpful information. I promise. It's just that I can't promise I'll blog on a regular basis. I mean, I'll try but this is the sort of thing that tends to slip my mind. But, I'll work on it. I'll even add it to my scheduler. I promise. I've read many other bloggers and read many articles. I've watched and listened to YouTube videos about blogging. Hey, I even belong to a group for writers that branched off just for this sort of thing. And yet...it's taken me this long to create this blog on my website.
So I curtsey, salute, and tip my hat to all those who can and do blog and have turned it into something big with a big following. I wish I knew their secret. It's a knack. One that I obviously lack. But let's get on with it, shall we? My very first blog: Is about you. The seeker of metaphysical knowledge and spirituality. The one who wants to live a holistic lifestyle. The one who knows there's more out there but more importantly, you know there's so much more....inside of you. That you are more than the bones and skin and blood that make up your body. You are more than the hair and nails and muscles you tend to. You know...you truly and innately know that you are that resonating power you feel within you. You want to harness it, to nurture it, to hone and expand it to create a more spiritual life, to serve others, to be the best you can be. You are drawn to learning all you can yet you don't know where to begin, or how to begin. Since you are here, reading this, I say to you, you already did begin the moment you thought about it, that quest for more. Your spirit inside you called out or whispered to you and you heard it. You answered the call and began. So my sage advice to you is to continue to listen to "that still voice within" and allow it to guide you, to steer you in the right directions. I'm glad it led you to my door, so-to-speak. I'm glad you are here so we may travel together while on our own paths. I hope you will take a look around at my offerings and feel drawn to experience some of them to learn more about what your spirit and soul are thirsty for. I am here to serve you so you may learn and then in turn, when you are ready, you can go on to serve others as well. You can learn even more about all things holistic, metaphysical, and spiritual by choosing to "follow" so you can listen to each my Blog Talk Radio Shows. I air Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon (eastern time) for quick 15-minute lunchbreak learning shows. Alternate weeks on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm I have a special guest and this is a thirty-minute show. Here is one show from January 1, 2021, but I have plenty more for you to learn from! You can also follow along on Facebook: www.facebook.com/Meeting.Ike.Series |
